embrace the camera - dog treats

Today we are Embracing the Camera

The week after Christmas I picked up this treat mix on clearance at Target for $2.50.  I should have bought more boxes.  The package said it made 8 treats.   We got about 30+.  Those would have been some massive fatty dog treats.  And you can tell by the size of Kiera's hand how not big the cutter is.  They were a success because Berkley loves them.

Yes we were all in our pj's at 2pm that weekend, which happens a lot around here.  They are working in the little food prep spot of the kitchen (gah an island would be nice) where Kiera always has to pull a kitchen chair over to get extra height that she doesn't get with her step stool.  Actually she drags that chair all over the kitchen to stand on the counter to get a cup, get her hot cocoa out of the microwave, etc.  One day she will tower over me and I will feel like I need the chair more than her.

4 wheeler mudding

Sunday Jimmy and I (without the kiddo) met up with a bunch of his coworkers at Grand Lake to do some massive trail riding on the 4 wheeler.  The weather was perfect and cool that morning but then it started raining about half way there.  It's much more fun when it's wet.  Well until the rain pelts you in the face when you are flying down a straight away.  Painful.

Here is the whole group.  All husbands and wives.  Except for one kid but he is 17.

We were stopped for some reason.  There is no way I could take a picture while we were riding.  We never went slow the entire time.

We ended up towing one of the guys back on our way to eat lunch.  He drove over the same tree branch on the ground as everyone else but ended up breaking his bike.  Someone else had another bike he could ride.

While towing him back Jimmy pointed out this big boulder.

After lunch we went back out and watched some rock climbers for a little while.  There are some interesting vehicles out there.

Pictures just don't do the steepness of the hills any justice.

We eventually had a jeep join our group and went everywhere we did.  I am standing on the opposite hill that is the same steepness of the one the jeep is going down.  It's almost vertical.  Crazy!

When you get to the top of some of those crazy steep hills you come across little places like this.  Panty Hill.  You can donate a piece to the trees if you like.  We did not.

After we left Panty Hill we went to find MUD.  And boy did we find it.

We plowed through a number of holes until the jeep got stuck in one.  So we bailed them out too.

Only for Jimmy to plow into a hole that was about 3 feet deep for us to get stuck in too.

I knew before we even hit it we were going to get stuck.  And completely wet n muddy.  Just look at it.  You could swim in it.  Oh and what is even better is that one of the guys caught it on his helmet video.  Lovely.

Right before we had the mud hole mishap I was wacked in the head with a branch.  It hit right on my temple and scraped its way from under my ear towards my mouth.  It still hurts.

We made our way to the water after the bikes and us were nice a dirty to rinse them off.  Jimmy hit the water at about 30 mph and we were immediately SOAKED.  I was laughing hysterically.

It didn't really help getting any of the mud off.

This picture cracks me up.  We had a good laugh about it.  We had stopped a minute so someone could fix a tire or lug nut or something and I decided to get a picture with Jimmy.  When I pulled the camera back and saw his face it made me laugh.  Apparently he was making faces and that is the one I captured.  We were both tired.  We had bee riding for 7 hours!!!!!

When we finally got back to the campsite we ran to the showers and came back to Tony (the one we towed on the bike) making margaritas.  Mmmmm....Strawberry margaritas....yummm.

Two tired people.

And boy are we sore.  Everyone was impressed with my ability to hang on to the bike the way Jimmy drives it but I am used to it.  Apparently I looked like a rag doll.  Anyone else would have been thrown off.  One of the many reasons he loves me.  Tough girl who is not afraid to get dirty.

But I had so much stinkin' dirty fun and can't wait to do it again.

embrace the camera~dada and kiera style

These pictures were taken a couple weeks ago in a restaurant called Harvest House.  We had been at the river swimming for the day and by time we left it was dinner time.  We ocassionally eat here or at the Dairy Grill because small towns have the best little restaurants.

And here's a little video to show what was really going on...

Gah I love her little giggle.  She has a different giggle that I love but it's hard to catch her doing it on camera.  One of these days I will get it.  ONE OF THESE DAYS!!!!!!

And of course I am linkin' up with Emily today.

embrace the camera

This was the only picture that I took of K-Dub and I at Big Splash over the weekend.

I will tell you that I had to snap the picture fast because that little bucket she has in her hand was making its way in front of our faces.  If she is holding on to something it will make its way in front of her face or right in front of the lens.

Why do kids do that?

But that bucket, she carried it around all day!  She took it down the slides with her, threw it down a slide to watch it go, and watered the flowers that were at the base of the dinosaur slide.  The flowers were painted, not real.

At one point she asked if my legs needed cooled off and I said they did, even though they were halfway submerged in water.  Sometimes you just have to humor the kids.  So she scoops up some water, pours it over my legs and Mandy's and we thank her.  Later on while I am sitting back and watching her play, I see her start talking to some other mom sitting at the edge of the pool.  Now I don't know what the conversation was but Kiera scoops up water and kinda slings it towards the mom's back.

Great my kid is throwing water on people...at a pool where they are already wet.  The point is I had to tell her not to just throw water on people because it's not nice.  'Cause you know there are some people out there that don't want to get wet and stay pretty or whatever.  Luckily I could tell that mom didn't mind getting wet at a pool.

Photo courtesy of my father in law on his point and shoot.

I handed him my camera and had to give him a quick lesson on how to operate it since I do not operate on auto.  When he handed it back to me he said it has too many buttons.

He has one of these cameras and I want to play with it.  The film probably costs some stupid high amount.

Anyway, the picture he took was a little crooked but I could live with that.

I couldn't live with the way I was standing and looked from the waist down.  It is still on my computer but not where everyone can see it.  I'll probably print it off in a little 4x6 to put it in one of my albums.

I will keep it for Kiera's sake because I know she will only see a picture where she is with her Mama and Dada.

I can honestly tell you I have NEVER looked at a picture of my parents and thought "Ugh, they looked horrible" or whatever the case may be.  They are just my parents.

embrace the camera

Welp it's Thursday so I am linkin' up with Emily today.

I made Kiera get up in Dada's lap so I could take a picture since you know there just aren't enough pictures of them together.  I don't care if they are "posed".  They are together which is what counts.

Oh does she love to give big loooong kisses.  I love getting them too.  The way she grabs our face or wraps her arms around our neck is just wonderful.  Sometimes she will just give you 10 pecks (on the mouth) in a row and giggle the whole time doing it.    It makes me miss those silly open mouthed kisses she would give when she was a baby.  She is such a sweet affectionate little girl.  Probably because I haven't been able to keep from smothering her with love since the day she was born.

embrace the camera - we are rock stars

Last night I watched the new Disney channel original movie Lemonade Mouth.  Yeah I watch Disney shows.  So what.  And I liked it...a lot.

Kiera was sitting next to me on the couch playing games on my iPhone and I got to watch the movie.  Win win.  Anytime they played a song we got up and danced.  We usually only dance to the closing credits on movies but this movie had too many good songs to just sit back and listen.  So I shoved our huge ottoman out of the way and we got our groove on.  Jimmy "doesn't dance" and that is all I have to say about that.
Dancing A and K

Oh yeah, we are rock stars.

Twirling her 30 something pound body around for I can't even tell you how long gets to be a tad bit difficult.  But she giggles the whole time and loves it.  Heeeeey I can count it as exercise can't I?  Saaaaa-weet!

Now get out from behind the lens and...
