Book Wish List

I haven't had a book to read in about a month or so and it is really getting to me.  I miss the escape I get when reading a book where I get so wrapped up in the story that I literally forget what my true surroundings are.  I am a total fiction reader, I just can't get into non fiction books.  The books on my wish list are all continuations of a series that I already own, well except for Young House Love.  I just want their book because I love them and they have some great ideas.  If you don't read their blog, you should.  And I just noticed that Hidden comes out next week so I might have to go ahead and order that.

summer reading program

Pretty much every single Wednesday my mother in law takes Kiera to the library to participate in story time and songs.  Sometimes my mom takes her on Tuesdays but Kiera doesn't always want to go.  About a month ago my MIL told me that she signed Kiera up for the summer reading program.  If the kids visit the library at least 4 times and read or are read to a certain amount of books you get prizes depending on how many you complete.

So for Kiera's first ever reading program she "read" 20 books and made at least 4 visits to the library!

For doing all this wonderful reading she got this ginormous blowup airplane...

And her very first medal...

Plus she got a book full of coupons for free stuff like nuggets and fruit from McD's and Wendy's, free admission to the Aquarium, Zoo, Drillers Baseball, and Tulsa Thunder.

We are so stinkin' proud of her!!!
And at the end of me taking her pictures she said we needed to take one together with her arm around my neck and my arm around neck.  It only took 3 tries before I got her to actually look at the camera and not somewhere else.

I Like To Read

Yep I said it...I like to read.  I didn't always though.  Oh no.  The only time I ever read before 2008 was in high school back in 96-98 because I had to and then in like 1999 I picked up a copy of Bridges of Madison County at Goodwill because I heard it was a great love story.  I did like it, and I even watched the movie with Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep afterward.  Now this was the first time I had ever watched the movie after reading the book and I was so disappointed.  They left parts out, twisted them around, and then you don't get to hear the storytellers thoughts and feelings like you do in the book.  Boo.

Fast forward to March of 2008.  I remember dates like crazy.  I am standing at my table at Merritt's decorating cakes while Josette, a fellow decorator,  is behind me talking about Bella kissing Jacob and screwing everything up.  I asked her what the heck she was talking about since I had heard her mention them before plus some guy named Edward.  She proceeded to give me the rundown of the Twilight series.  At this point Eclipse was the last book released which is the one she was talking about.  It sounded pretty interesting and I have always liked vampire movies.  I told her I wanted to read them and the rest is history.
So since then I have read approximately 47 books!!  You want to know what I've read?  Well OK!  The ones in (  ) I have not read because they either haven't been released or I haven't bought them yet.
 1.  Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn
2.  The Host
3.  The Vampire Diaries - Books 1, 2, 3, 4
4.  The Secret Circle - Books 1, 2, 3
5.  The Immortals - Evermore, Blue Moon, Shadowland, Dark Flame, Night Star (Everlasting)
6.  The Mortal Instruments - City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass, (City of Fallen Angels)
7.  Evernight, Stargazer, Hourglass (Afterlife)
8.  House of Night Series - Marked, Betrayed, Chosen, Untamed, Hunted, Tempted, Burned, Awakened (+5 more not released yet)
9.  Wicked Lovely, Ink Exchange, Fragile Eternity, (Radiant Shadows, Darkest Mercy)
10.  Shiver, Linger, (Forever)
11.  A Novel of the Menagerie - The Nimble Man, Tears of the Furies, Stones Unturned, Crashing Paradise
12.  A Certain Slant of Light
13.  The Fetch
14.  Graceling
15.  Fire
16.  Viva la Vampire (The Last Vampire)
17.  Watchers in the Night
18.  Inventing Elliot
19.  Looking for Alaska
20.  Tersias the Oracle

Most of them are out of the teenager/young adult section.  There are a couple "adult" books I have read but I end up giggling most of the way through due to the vivid description of things that happen in the privacy of your bedroom.  Its just funny seeing certain words written on paper.  Hehe.

I have noticed a change in my ability to comprehend what I am reading and it has broadened my vocabulary.  Luckily my reading has rubbed off on Kiera.  She has her own little bookshelf that she is very proud of.

So I owe a great big thanks to Josette!

Cough cough...Yay....Sneeze

Feeling like poop lately.  Kinda sick.  Not bad enough to feel bad but not good enough to feel good.  Just in between where it is annoying.  Buuuuuuut....

I got a new book

If you went to South Intermediate High School in BA you would have know her as Ms. Bond.  Her daughter Kristin was like 7 or something 14 years ago.  Wow.  14 years ago!

She was my 9th grade English teacher.  She rocked.  Former Air Force lady.  I was in her class when we received word the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building was bombed.  She taught us how to interpret Shakespeare (I can still read it to this day and understand it).  We read the Odyssey, I Have A dream by Martin Luther King Jr., we had to rewrite the ending to The Raven, and read something on how to embalm people for some reason.  But if you really know me, you know that is right up my alley!  This is like the 6th or 7th in the series.  You can definitely see her personality coming out in some of the characters.   Plus its the story is centered in Tulsa so I am kinda literally there in the story.

I haven't been able to read any of it yet because as soon as we got home at 8:15 I had a date with these two and their contents...

Then a certain little girl was finished with her bath and needed to be dressed.  Now it's time for her to go to bed and time for me to sing her some songs.  I know you feel special I have been writing this to you instead of reading but now its time for myself.
