9 Years

9 years ago today I married my best friend.  Such a cheesy line but it's true.  He is my best friend and I don't think you should marry anyone BUT your best friend.
(2001, my 21st birthday. I got hit on by a cop at QT.)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I believe you should marry (or spend the rest of your life even unmarried if that's your thing) with someone if...
you can be 100% yourself around them 100% of the time.
(May 15, 2004!!!!)
you can laugh with (or at) them.
be a crying snotting hot mess for stupid reasons in front of them and they still think you are beautiful.
say completely inappropriate or stupid things and they don't judge you for it.
(We miss you Ceasar dog)
you are down and they lift you back up.
you can scream and yell at them and they love you the same.
you tell them the ugly bitter truth even though it hurts like hell, on both parts.
( August 2006, things were hurting like hell)
you can't imagine living your life with out them in it.
they are the person you can't wait to tell a story to or ask for their advice.
(Still working through hell.  First Christmas in our new house...2 weeks after this picture a little human began their life to make us a family of 3)
you are comfortable being naked in front of them (ok this may come later for some).
you would create human life with them.
(Riding 4 wheelers while 4-5 month pregnant is totally fine.  Really it is.)
they will hold your hair or get you a washcloth while you are throwing up even though they gag at just the thought of throw up.
you make complete and utter a fool of yourself, and they stick around.
(Fathers Day 2007, there's a little girl in that belly)
they make you feel like a good person.
they are the first person you want to see when you open your eyes in the morning and close your eyes at night.
they bring out the bad in you to help you change for the better.
they bring out the best in you.
I am so thankful we found each other.  We would not be the same without the other, and I don't like the person I would have been had he not come into my life.  For me it isn't hard being married, but it does take work.  Some days we drive each other crazy more than others, The things that drive me crazy are also the things I love about him.  It makes him who he is, and those are the reasons why I fell in love with him.   I am so excited for our future and hope to have a long life with him.
Happy Anniversary Jimmy!
Valentine's Day
Well he did it.  The husband surprised me.  Totally not expecting flowers.  The Stargazers smell like dead people.  Okay not really dead people but funeral homes.  I hate the smell but I love to look at them!  He also wrote quoted a line from my favorite play/movie on the card,   Romeo and Juliet.  My heart melted.
We had a lovely candle lit dinner for 2 of soft tacos at our kitchen table.  The candlelight was provided by 5 votives with the overhead light on.  Do you know how many candles it would take to provide adequate lighting to eat by?  TONS!!!  Oh I have tons of candles, I just choose to use them sparingly.
After that lovely dinner we watched tv for a bit and then went on short drive and listened to NPR.  Jimmy made a detour and took me to Starbucks.  I ordered a Grande Skinny Caramel Macchiato and the chick made it non skinny.  So she made me a Venti and gave us the other one too...for free!  Score!!
Then we came home watched more tv and went to bed.  It was the perfect evening.
Jimmy you are my sunshine, my only sunshine.
Lovely Evening With the Husband
Had a romantic dinner of Arby's on lap trays at the in-laws.
Went to the recycling center to drop off the recycling.
Drove around town for 30 minutes so we could finish listening to stories on NPR.
Went home and relaxed by watching a little TV and reading.
It sure is nice to have an evening where you can just be together and talk or just enjoy the silence!
The Daily Grind
Well it's back to the office today.  I am counting down the days to when I will never have to work again.  Shoot, I would even be happy with working part time.  I didn't always feel this way about work, that is until Kiera came along.  Before I would happily go to work on my day off, come in early or stay a little late to help out.  Not now.  Kiera is my priority.
Jimmy always asks me why am I always in such a hurry to get anywhere (stupid speeding tickets).  I am always in a hurry and the only time I don't rush around is when I am at home.  I take my time doing things there because I can relax and be with my family which is what matters most to me.  People may say that I have the rest of my life to experience all the things I want to with my family, but what if I don't?
I try really hard not to beat myself up about this but it's hard not to.  Of course I feel guilty about not being there with Kiera all the time.  I don't really have a choice in the matter.  If I didn't work we wouldn't be able to live in a nice house, drive nice cars, go to the movies, and give Kiera the life and all the other things we want her to have.
We gave her a little Leapfrog laptop for Christmas and one feature it has is this "blog" entry were the laptop says "My favorite puppy pal is Scout"  then asks "Who is your best friend?"  One time Kiera answered "Mama is my best friend" and the next time she said "It's Dada".  Made my heart melt.  That shows me right there that she really isn't suffering for us not being with her 24/7.
Still I don't have to like going to work.  That's why they call it work.
