happy birthday kiera

Happy 4th birthday to my sweet baby girl!!!

Yesterday we had her birthday party.  We started off the day by painting her toenails.  She couldn't decide on what color she wanted so I suggested that we could do rainbow colors.  She loved them.  Tiny toenails are a little tricky to paint.
Kiera wanted a Tangled/Rapunzel party so that's what she got.  I really don't like all the matiching pieces of party decorations so I have to just do my own thing.  I do buy like plates and napkins with the character of choice but not much else.

I painted this sign on a piece of cereal box.  The Suggly Duckling is a gathering place/restaurant that all the mean thugs go to hang out at.

I printed this sign off with the "wrong" nose.  In the movie Flynn keeps saying "They just can't get my nose right!"

My ghetto lanters floating away.  Kiera liked them which is all that matters.

Then I made "kingdom flags" as Kiera calls them.  She absolutely loved them.  I also had them hanging above the bar between our kitchen and living room.  I hand cut out about 30 of those suns with my new Exacto knife.  I stopped having fun when I got to about number 15.

And Rapunzel's tower cake.  Of course Kiera requested it and I was kind of dreading making it but when I really thought about it, it wasn't going to be that bad.  The roof of the tower and pillar part is made out of a styrofoam cone cut in two and the only cake is the grass and her tower.

I filled up 100 water balloons.  At 11:00 at night.  Everyone had fun with those.

There was a short dance party before the opening of presents.

A rapunzel with hair that actually glows!  She also got a Rapunzel tower toy that she really wanted.

She was excited just to get the helmet and bell.

But she had no idea what was coming next.
Her very first bike.  I took her out after the party to let her try it out but she had a meltdown and we had to go back inside so she could take a nap.

She blew out her birthday candles with much concentration.

I made her this lovely strong tower pinata.  I used a Dos Eqqis box, paper plate, tape, and a tiny bit of glue and filled it with fruit snacks.  I had no idea it would hold up as good as it did.  After all the kids took a swing at it Jimmy jumped in to take a few whacks at it.  He ended up knocking it off the string and it landed on my dad.  It was hilarious!  We had to rip it apart to get the snacks out.  Ah good times.

The party favors were an 8x10 canvas, some acrylic paint I squirted into the little paint cups and a brush.  I found this idea online somewhere and pinned it to my Pinterest board so I would remember to do it.

Kiera loved every single bit of it.  She really does appreciate all the little decorations I made for her and actually bragged about the stuff I made.  Such a sweet little thing.  We didn't do a dang thing for the rest of the day either.  We are pooped.

What an awesome party! I love the cake. I wish I had the cake skills, but I don't. You sure pulled off an awesome event. Congrats Mama!
