where did my baby go?

I don't remember telling Kiera it was OK to grow up.

Not that we really wanted her to stay a baby forever because I have to admit that we are not too fond of the newborn stage.

It reminds me of all the times when she was a baby that I couldn't wait for her to accomplish her next milestone.

To sit up alone.

To crawl.

To walk.

To feed herself.

To communicate.

Garden center collage

Now she is all over the place.

Running.

Getting her own snacks.

Talking up a storm.

Being an actual person with an opinion, not just this helpless beautiful little blob.

I used to work with a lady at the bakery that would talk about her daughter (who was 19/20 at the time) sitting in her lap and them cuddling together.  I always though that it was weird but since I have a child of my own I now understand just exactly how close they are.

I hope that Kiera will still want to cuddle with me at that age.  It won't be weird, well to me it won't.  Because no matter what age she is, she will always be my baby.  And hopefully for her sake (and mine) when the occasion calls for it I will know when to turn off the "she is my baby" part of my brain and turn on the "she is an adult".

I now understand why my parents still view me like as their little girl even though I am 31, have been married for almost 7 years and have a child.

Totally agree with this post. I know I will always look at my girl as my baby. She won't understand why until she has babes of her own.
