Pops Arcadia, OK

The weekend before my birthday (I turned 35 last week!) we took a little trip down to OKC for the weekend and drug our camper and my father in law along. I am going to share in no particular order, just going along as I get the pictures edited.

We stopped by Pops in Arcadia which is about 20 minutes northeast of OKC on old Route 66.  It was the first time Kiera and I had ever been and Jimmy and his dad hadn't been in a long time.  Oh and I must mention first that I was 2 weeks in to a month long clean eating challenge.  I totally cheated...but just a little.

They literally have any and every flavor of pop that you could imagine...coffee, buffalo sauce, bacon, maple, Ranch dressing, Celery, Sweet corn...I would love to try them but I don't want to spend $2 on a whole bottle and hate it.

We ate lunch and Kiera's first choice of pop was strawberry.  Jimmy had a Black Cherry Cream which was wonderful.  I only took little sips of them since I am not drinking any pop due to my clean eating and because I have just basically cut it out of my life anyway.  Jimmy and I shared an Arcadia burger which had blue cheese, bacon and barbecue sauce.  We weren't sure how the bbq sauce would be on the burger but they all worked together very nicely.  I totally cheated and ate a quarter of the burger and some fries. It helped my mental clean eating issues.  Jimmy's dad had a salad I think and Kiera ate a corn dog.

Pops has 6 pack boxes that you can grab off of the shelves and put together your own selection to take home.  $15 for these 6 but the experience and excitement for Kiera picking out flavors was well worth it.  She had a blast.

The only ones Jimmy and I got to pick out were the very cherry and apple pie.  I was a little overwhelmed with the hundreds (or maybe thousands) of choices.  The cases were pretty much sorted by type or flavor so once I really started looking it wasn't so bad.  And the bottles are stinking cute, we are keeping them.

Berkley the Bogarter

Oh our silly little hairy boy. Any time we leave Berk at the house, whether we are going to work or some where we can't bring him along, he immediately runs to find a sock or shoe of ours and brings it to his special spot atop the back of our couch.

One day I put my socks on the ottoman in the living room and went to mess around on the computer for a bit since I had some time to spare before I left for work.  I walk out of the computer room and find one of my socks in the hallway and the other was getting some love.

He definitely knows our morning drill.  Sometimes when we do we plan on bringing him with us and he hasn't figured it out yet we have to go searching for our missing shoe because he has already dragged away.

We can never be mad at him with a face like that though.

Halloween 2012

Better late than never sharing pictures of Kiera in her Halloween costume.  Cutest witch ever if you ask me.  I even put some makeup on her which she was really excited about.  I remember dressing up as a princess (occasionally it was Glenda the good witch) for years when I was young  and my mom would put blue eyeshadow, lots of blush and lipstick on me.  I liked it though.  It was all part of dressing up, even if it looked gaudy.

Of course please excuse the terrible photos, I just can't take good pictures in low to no light.

Such a big girl walking up to the houses by herself.

Of course Berkley was dressed in his "Handsome Devil" shirt.  He is definitely protective of Kiera of Kiera too.

Silly dog.  Kiera had a blast and was just a bouncy little thing.  We didn't go to as many houses as we normally do which was fine.  At one point Kiera and another girl said to each other "Hey I know you from the bus!", which was another little kindergartner that goes to the same school as Kiera.  We just so happened to go to the same houses as them towards the end of our route so it was nice Kiera had her and another little boy from the neighborhood to trick or treat with.

happy birthday berkley

January 2009 I was in a pet store in town buying some fish and letting Kiera look around at all the animals.  I noticed that they had a type of dog Jimmy mentioned he liked which is a Griffonshire (half Brussels Griffon half Yorkie) so I told him about the store having them.

About a week went by when we had an ice storm and Jimmy wanted to see how my new car handled on the roads.  We decided to go back to the pet store to just look at the puppies.  There was one cage with 3 Griffonshires and another cage with just one.  The 3 dogs that were in a cage together were really excited and bouncing off the walls but the one alone in the other cage was sitting quietly in the corner.  We decided to play with a long haired Chihuahua first and quickly realized that this particular dog was pretty skiddish and was peeing all over the place.  We had the lady put him back and we wanted to spend some time with the lone puppy.  This puppy was a cuddle bug.  He didn't run around like crazy, didn't pee all over the place, he just let me hold him.

Now when we went into the store we had zero intentions of buying a puppy.   Jimmy had told me that if I wanted him we would get him.  After holding that sweet puppy those 15 minutes I couldn't bear to put him back in the cage and I am so glad I didn't.  He is also the first dog I have every had.

Right after we left the store with him I decided to name him Berkley Prescott because his posture made me think of a British college professor.

Yesterday he turned 3.

This was the first day in his new home spending all day with his mama.   I am his favorite person.

Such a good little brother to Kiera.

As much as Lilly doesn't want to admit it, she really does like having this annoying little brother around.  When we come home from work we catch them cuddling on the couch all the time.

He looooves to wear sweaters in the winter.

Costumes not so much.

Now Berkley that is just inappropriate.

I don't know what happened to that calm little puppy though.  He is an 11 lb. ball of excited energy.  Still he is the sweetest little thing and the biggest cuddler you will ever meet.  Last year we had a big scare and thought we might lose him but luckily he healed and he is still in our lives, hopefully for many more.

Happy 3rd birthday Berk dog!!!   I think you know just how much we love you!

Berk dog

Berkley is the first dog I have ever had.  I had no idea that having a dog was like having another kid.  I am used to having a cat that takes care of herself.  Hey at least he doesn't shed!  But anyone can tell that I am definitely his Mama.  There are things he does with me that he won't do with anyone else.  Like give me kisses, which is kinda yucky but he sneaks them in there.

I can get down on the ground and get him all riled up and growling while playing with him.  He also likes to be held up to where he can look over your shoulder.  Probably because when we first brought him home that is how I carried him around.

Oh Mister Berkley Prescott, you are such a sweet adorable little puppy dog.  He is such a good boy when I give him a bath.  He just sits there.  Doesn't even try to shake off the water.

Berkley Bath

His hair is way too long so a visit to the groomers is in order this week!

That is an old pic but it's what he looks like right now.  Chewbacca or Ewok?
